Do you think kissing is important in a relationship?

My fiance does not kiss me intimately, and I hate it. I feel like i'm kissing my grandpa when i kiss him. Notice i said when "I" kiss him. We have been together for 5 years and have 2 kids. Is this normal, or should I be concerned? He tells me he just doesn't like to kiss, but kissing is very important to me. I feel it's a huge part of a relationship. Should I just refrain from kissing him at all to give him a taste of his own medicine?
